McNormal's: Another Last Food Restaurant by: Roscoe Smith

CHAPTER FIVE: After Midnight: Give Me Strength

The girl who was asking all the questions began to giggle. This was a weird situation and I didn't know how to react. There was a chance this might have been a McNormal's personality test, but I couldn't be sure. If it was a personality test, it was wrong they would use a young girl to turn a necessary job duty into this kind of test. I decided to treat this girl as though she had an emotional problem. I had to be careful I did not cause any more psychological damage than McNormal's already caused.

The girl who was reaching into the dish water turned and faced me,"Roscoe, I'm just trying to be nice." She had a surprised tone in her voice and an innocent look on her face. She continued, "Don't you want any help doing dishes?" It was difficult to tell if this girl was serious or not. Since her friend was still laughing and holding her side, I thought, "She must be playing THE GAME ." I told the pleading girl,"That's alright, I can do dishes all by myself. I've been doing dishes for nineteen years." I hoped this comment would give her the message,"I've been doing dishes since before you were born." I tried to be diplomatic, I wanted her to leave, I didn't want to hurt her feelings in case she was serious.

The girl changed her facial expression, she looked very surprised and offended. She exclaimed,"What! Don't you like me?" She whipped her hands causing soapy water to fling into the air. I was speechless, I thought,"What the hell's going on here? I thought this was supposed to be a nice place to work." As diplomatically as possible, I told the girl,"It's nice you want to help, but there are other things you can do to help besides playing rubby in the sink. That will get me into trouble." This comment was intended to test the girl, if she was really interested in helping me, she would not want to get me into trouble. My next step, if she was serious about helping me, was to ask her to go to the grill area and find some dirty dishes that might need to be washed.
